The product is an open and free digital APP and WEB intended for use by teachers who participate in bilingual programmes. Through this software, each school will include its students in virtual classrooms with a list that includes the contents and learning standards of the linguistic and content areas. Thus, the teaching staff will be able to coordinate the timing and sequencing of contents, their organization throughout the school year, and grade and prioritize the importance of each one of them.
With the use of indicators agreed by the teaching team and through their periodic inclusion in this database, the teachers authorized by the school will be able to quickly check the progress of each one of the students and contribute to their progress in the contents in each area. In this way, the areas of English language and Social Sciences or Plastic Education, for example, will be able to unify the rhythm of content delivery and even the planning of tests, which will regularly contribute to generate new information that will be shared between the different educational agents.
Thus, with the use of new technologies, this tool will help students receive the specific attention they need and therefore schools will achieve a greater level of integration between the different areas involved in the bilingual programme. The great beneficiaries will be the students, since they will see that they will begin to have the linguistic resources (lexical, grammatical structures…) to be able to acquire the expected knowledge in a comprehensive and meaningful way.
The bottom-line of the project that we propose is clearly based on the need to unite the teaching work of the teachers who take part in the teaching-learning process of the students in the bilingual programme. Due to practical experience in educational institutions and language schools, on the one hand and scientific research, on the other, we have verified the existence of a clear deficit in the coordination of the agents that very often affects negatively the results of the programme.
Foreign language teachers (L2, English) are not usually coordinated with teachers of content subjects (such as Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, for example) in relation to the language that is necessary for the students to progress correctly. This produces in the students a lack of the necessary linguistic tools to acquire the contents.
This tool is intended to be used by teachers who participate in bilingual programmes. Especially, both foreign language teachers and teachers of content subjects.
Indirectly, the students of these programmes will not only be able to improve their performance but also will be more insterested and motivated when receiving a coordinated and coherent education through collaboration between the teachers involved, something wich ultimately may prevent academic faiures and possible school drop-out.
